The company was formed in April of 1998 through a 50:50 joint venture agreement to create and manage a motion picture business in Spain between Mr. Ricardo Evole Martil of Yelmo Films (a leader in its field in Spain) and Loews Cineplex International Holdings Inc. through Loews Cineplex Entertainment (one of the largest movie exhibitors in the world, with theaters in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Korea, and Spain). The company has a registered office located in Madrid, Spain. It is a key driver in the modernization of Spain's exhibition sector. The company operates Spain's largest film exhibitor, with 329 screens in 29 theaters located within key urban markets in Spain, including Madrid and Barcelona. Its multiplexes programs original version screenings for both arthouse pictures and blockbusters, incorporates Imax projection systems for commercial titles in conventional theaters, and launches HD-quality d-cinema. The company also nurtures young talent via the short film fest Curt Fictions. The company manages its wholly-owned subsidiary Yelmo Films S.L., a private company that specializes in motion picture activities via cinemas.
